Jeff and Leanne’s Gulf Trip!
Jeff and Leanne Hedges owners of TJM Sunshine Coast have headed off this April on a big trip for five weeks from the Sunshine Coast to the Gulf and back!
They are TJM equipped with their 200 Series LandCruiser and 21 foot caravan, with a tinny on board.
We are tracking their journey and sharing their adventures, and we are hoping they use that tinny and see them brag about the fish they catch!
You might like to follow this trip itinerary or there might be a spot you may like to explore! Lets get to their adventures!….
Well it’s Jeff and Leanne’s last week of travelling bliss ….. they are on their way home, due back later this week.
So here are their travels and adventures for their last week on their great Gulf trip……
We left Jeff and Leanne and Leanne’s aunt and uncle in Winton, where they found lots to see. On Thursday they visited the Waltzing Matilda Outback Centre where they found lots of old trains and sewing machines. Jeff commented the sights in Winton were pretty interesting for a small outback town.
They all then headed out for a lovely dinner at the Winton Tattersall’s Hotel.
On Friday they headed off to Longreach where they found a passionate a-van get together with nearly 250 sites taken up by them all! They also found lots of roos and brolgas hanging out at the caravan park.
They did a spot of Longreach sightseeing visiting both the Stockmans Hall of Fame and the Qantas Museum.
They found the Qantas Museum amazing and interesting, however The Stockmans Hall of Fame they found disappointing with unfortunately a lot of the displays and shows closed for changing of displays.
They moved on from Longreach and stopped on route checking out Ilfracombe and the famous Tree of Knowledge at Barcaldine.
At Ilfacombe Jeff found 2km of antique machinery and was like a ‘like a kid in a lolly shop’ – this is not the first time on this trip!
They pulled up at Blackall for the night at a nice quiet camp spot and also found an artesian pool for a swim and spa.
On Monday they did the Woolscour tour at Blackall, which they said it was quite amazing to see.
Jeff said ‘this Woolscour is the only surviving Woolscour of the original 52 left in Australia and it’s a credit to the Blackall community to have restored this piece of Australian history’.
Then they travelled onto Charleville for the night.
Tuesday saw them having a bit of a rest and moving on towards Toowomba.
They arrive in Toowoomba for their last night on the road, taking the opportunity to catch up with some family.
On their last night of their trip Leanne has noted ‘the first night of our trip in Emerald was freezing and the coldest we have had; the last night in Toowoomba is going to finish our trip off the same way’
Home Sweet Home! … (and back to reality!)….
We hope you have enjoyed following Jeff and Leanne’s trip as much as we all did……and we are very happy to have them home safely. We are so jealous of their trip and we are all keen to head off on our respective trips, while Jeff and Leanne settle back into the real world – until their next trip!!
Stay tuned for Scott and Mandy Hedges big trip – they are off to Cape York with their two gorgeous little boys!!….. coming soon right here, where all the TJM adventures happen!!…..
