Gorgeous weather, great company, beautiful scenery, All 4 Adventure boys, charity raffle with lots of super prizes, delicious food in the cooking competition, and challenging fun 4WD drives – we couldn’t’ have asked for more – in all it was a fantastic weekend at the TJM Sunshine Coast Drive Weekend out at Kenilworth!

Over the weekend everyone had lots of fun, chatter, driving, and greeting and meeting new friends.

Lots joined in on the weekend starting late Friday afternoon camping at the green and spacious Kenilworth showgrounds.

Saturday morning kicked off with 29 cars joining in on a half day scenic drive through the Kenilworth mountain 4WD forest tracks starting from base camp and headed through to Charlie Moreland camp area and popped out at Booloumba Creek. Half the group got lost on route, though through a very scenic route and got to do some challenging 4WD sections again, that the other half missed out on!

The afternoon was left for everyone to have a rest, chat with Jason and Simon from All 4 Adventure, and get cooking for the cooking competition. Raffle tickets were sold for the Royal Flying Doctor Service with lots of super TJM gear up for grabs, which was generously donated by TJM Head Office. We also had a participant who very generously donated a 80 watt solar panel to the raffle.

The cooking competition kicked off at 7pm with all meals placed on the judging tables. Jason and Simon got their appetites ready and proceeded to taste about 30 meals – tough going it was!! They were the perfect judges with second tastings in order! Lots of prizes were up for grabs including great All 4 Adventure gear. There were amazing meals created, everyone went to a huge effort and we had lots of happy winners! A yummy beef dumpling curry was the winner, a tie for second place was for two more delicious curries and third place went to a mouth watering roast lamb and veggies cooked in the camp oven by a young budding master chef! Two desert entrants disappeared quickly and received a special All 4 Adventure prize – who knew Jason and Simon liked deserts!?!

The charity raffle raised a fantastic $420 for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) – the angles in the sky in the Australian outback!

Sunday’s drive included 22 cars getting together for a more challenging 4WD heading further into the Kenilworth 4WD forest tracks. There was lots of action on this half day’s drive – with winching straight up an incredible steep hill at the very beginning of the drive, lots getting bogged, a blown tyre, snatching, and we also had attempts of driving up a very steep hill in 2WD!

Kenilworth 8 resizedEveryone survived though still wearing a smile and headed back to base camp for a yummy sausage sizzle put on by TJM Sunshine Coast. It was then time to pack up and head for home, exhausted but a great weekend had by all. Talk was on about the next TJM Sunshine Coast adventure!

We have lots of photos and videos of the weekend coming soon – check out our Facebook page for lots of great shared photos from the weekend too!
